How to Create Your Life of Adventure is a 5-part series created to guide you on a journey to choosing adventure every day at home and away. In this series, you will learn what it means to choose adventure and how you too can live a life of adventure in pursuit of the life you deeply desire and love.

It is never too late to become more adventurous, so join me today on this adventure-journey.

If you haven’t already, make sure you read the introduction to this series, How to Create Your Life of Adventure, and Part 1: Allow Yourself to Dream Big!, before you continue reading.

Part 2: Cultivate an Adventure Perspective

Before you start cultivating an adventure perspective, you need to understand what the adventure perspective is, as defined here at Leavenworth Adventures. Here is the breakdown for you.

PERSPECTIVE:

Your particular attitude toward or way of seeing and approaching your life.

ADVENTURE:

  • EXPLORE unknown territories.
  • Have exciting or remarkable EXPERIENCEs.
  • PARTICIPATE in exciting, possibly risky, activities.

When you put this all together you have the...

ADVENTURE PERSPECTIVE:

An attitude and approach to life, where you see everything as an opportunity for adventure, an opportunity to explore, experience and participate.
"One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure." - William Feather. Shared at Leavenworthadventures.com

Is this what you want for your life? I didn't even know I wanted this for my life until I experienced it and realized how wonderful and freeing it is to have this adventure perspective. Seeing everything as an opportunity for adventure and no longer letting my fears stop me from living life to the fullest has opened my eyes to the endless possibilities this world has to offer and has given me a greater excitement for this life and my future. I am so excited to explore the world, fully experience everything around me, and participate in a lot of new activities I have been curious about or interested in for a while. I feel like nothing can hold me back from living the life I deeply desire and love.

And I want this so badly for you, this freedom and excitement for life! So let's see what we can do about it. 🙂

Evaluate Your Current Life Perspective

To cultivate this adventure perspective in your life, start by evaluating your current life perspective.

Ask yourself the following questions and spend time thinking about your answers. Write your thoughts down or keep them in the back of your mind as you continue this journey.

  • What would you say your current life perspective is?
  • How do you view and approach life?
  • Do you tend to see life in a more negative or more positive light?
  • Do you approach life with fear or with excitement?
  • Do you spend time worrying about what might go wrong or do you spend time thinking about all the possibilities?
  • Or maybe a combination of these? And maybe it depends on the situation?

Write it Down

If you aren't already doing so, I encourage you to be writing all your dreams and thoughts down in a journal while going through this series. It is always beneficial to put thoughts down on paper and to be able to look back on and reflect as life moves forward and your current dreams and desires morph and change over the years. If you don't have a journal at home, here are some fun options worth checking out.

Visualize the Life You Want

After thinking about your current life perspective, think back to your dreams from Part 1, or reread Part 1 if you need to be reminded.

Use your dreams and the desires you discovered to help you look ahead and visualize what you want your ideal life to look like and who you ideally want to be. Visualize your ideal future and what you want most out of this life. Write it down.

Dreaming about and visualizing your future is so important to creating your life of adventure. By dreaming and visualizing, you focus on the long-term results, the end goals. This helps to keep your perspective in the right place and it helps you to prioritize and be intentional when making choices and decisions.

As we move on, continue to focus on the visualization of your future. This is what will guide you through the shift in your perspective, the shift from your current life perspective to the adventure perspective.

Now let's look at that shift.

A Shift in Perspective

Here is how the shift happens. The more you focus on your future visualization, and your dreams and desires, the more you will start to...

Focus on what is ahead instead of what you will leave behind.
Focus on all the potential possibilities instead of the what-ifs.
Focus on the positive instead of the negative.
Focus on what you will gain instead of what you will lose.
Focus on the adventure instead of the fears.

Do you see a trend?

When you realize the possibilities are endless and you start to get excited about what is waiting for you, your fears and excuses start to fade. You become so focused and excited about where you are going and what’s next, you are more willing to face your fears and participate in activities you wouldn’t have been willing to participate in previously, or explore new areas you weren’t interested in previously.

You will discover something new you want to try or somewhere new you want to go, and instead of letting your fears and excuses rear their ugly heads, you instantly add it to your list of adventures to pursue. It is truly amazing!
"When you shift your focus to the adventure, you shift your focus away from the fears." - Corene Repnik, Leavenworthadventures.com

HOW TO CREATE YOUR LIFE OF ADVENTURE

Do you wish you were more adventurous, but too often let fears and what other people think hold you back? Do you want more for your life, but don't know where to start?

Join me today and embark on this journey, How to Create Your Life of Adventure. You will learn how to face your fears, cultivate an adventure perspective, and choose adventure in pursuit of the life you deeply desire and love.

Part 1: Allow Yourself to Dream Big!

The first step to creating a life of adventure is allowing yourself to think and dream big. Adventure requires you to consider the possibility of doing something that might scare you, make you uncomfortable, or challenge who you think you are. So you have to allow yourself to dream about possibilities before you will ever consider living the possibilities.

The idea of dreaming sounds simple enough, but you would be amazed at how often people start thinking and dreaming about their life only to have their fears swoop in and shut it all down. How messed up is that! We give our fears so much power that they stop us from dreaming, stop us from even considering the possibilities we think about. How are we ever going to live the life we deeply desire if we don’t allow ourselves to dream about it?

We need to shut our fears down ASAP, and here’s how.

Don't let your fear of what could happen make nothing happen." - Doe Zantamata. Shared at Leavenworthadventures.com

It's Time to Dream

Give yourself permission to dream. Your dreams start and end with you. Fears and other people should have zero input into what you dream about. That is what makes them YOUR dreams.

Start today; spend time thinking and dreaming about your life using the following to guide you.

  • What your life looks like today.
  • Do you like your life. Yes. No. Somewhat.
  • What you wish it looked like.
  • What you would change today if you could.
  • What excites you.
  • What you love doing.
  • What kind of a person you want to be.
  • At the end of the year, at the end of your life, when you look back, what are you going to feel good about, proud about, and satisfied with?

Write it Down

If you don't have a journal or notebook at home to write your thoughts and dreams down as you go through this series, I highly encourage you to buy one. It is always beneficial to put thoughts down on paper and to be able to look back on and reflect. Here are some fun options if you need to buy one.

Think Big, Dream Big!

Allow yourself the time and space to think and dream big.

Entertain ALL ideas and write down EVERYTHING that comes to mind; even if you think it is unrealistic or ridiculous, and even if you can come up with 50 reasons why it would never work.

Ignore the fears that pop up. Don’t give them control.

There is no harm in writing your dreams and ideas down. No one has to see them. No one has to know about them. Remember, just because you write it down, it doesn’t mean you have to do anything about it.

Give yourself permission to write down EVERYTHING you think of. Don't hold back.

Discover Your Life Desires

Here at Leavenworth Adventures, I talk a lot about pursuing the life you deeply desire and love. Allowing yourself to dream big will lead you to discover your life desires.

When thinking and dreaming, pay attention to the ideas that have repeatedly popped into your mind over the years, the quiet whispers that make you stop and think, the thoughts that pull at your heartstrings, the ideas you spend time wondering about, and the dreams that make you think, "If only life was different.” All of these are potential life desires.

Your life desires and the thoughts and ideas that repeatedly appear, they make you long for something different, something better, they make you evaluate your current life, and question whether or not it is time to make a change. And sometimes, the dreams and ideas that scare you the most are the ones that lead you to your deepest life desires.

But it all starts with allowing yourself to dream!

"The biggest adventure you can have is living the life of your dreams." - Oprah Winfrey. Shared at Leavenworthadventures.com

Create Your Life of Adventure

Every day I realize how important it is to dream big and use my life desires to guide my daily decisions and actions. It is the dreaming and discovering of your life desires that are the biggest contributors to creating a life of adventure.

HOW TO CREATE A LIFE OF ADVENTURE

Do you wish you were more adventurous, but too often let fears and what other people think hold you back? Do you want more for your life, but don't know where to start?

This was me until I discovered how to create a life of adventure.

Join me today and embark on this journey, How to Create Your Life of Adventure. You will learn how to face your fears, cultivate an adventure perspective, and choose adventure in pursuit of the life you deeply desire and love.

The Journey to Creating a Life of Adventure

A couple years ago my husband and I made the decision to move to Leavenworth, WA. This was a really hard decision for me. At first, all I could think about was what I would leave behind, everything I held dear at the time: life-long friends, living close to family, and the familiarity of my surroundings. But the life in Leavenworth was exactly what my husband and I had always dreamed of for our family.

"One reason people resist change is because they focus on what they have to give up, instead of what they have to gain." - Rick Godwin. Shared from Leavenworthadventures.com

This is when I realized two very important things:

1. I was letting my fears hold me back from living the life I deeply desired for myself and my family.

2. My deep desires and dreams are so much bigger than my fears and they are worth the risk to pursue, worth the adventure.

This was a complete life-changer.

It opened my eyes to a new world, a new perspective, a life of adventure I still choose today. I started my journey to create a life of adventure a couple years ago and haven’t looked back. I no longer want to sit by and let my life pass me by. I no longer want to give fear the control and ability to hold me back from pursuing the life I deeply desire and love.

And I want this for you!
"Sometimes what you're most afraid of doing is the very thing that will set you free." - Robert Tew. Shared from Leavenworthadventures.com
